A cozy in-home newborn session in Aberdeen city. It was relaxed and fun, with lots of time to feed and settle newborn Seren, which made the day very easygoing and relaxed. I’m a big fan of using many different areas of the home for variety and dimension in these sessions, as well as utilize different lighting. This keeps things interesting – especially if you have an older sibling – in the photographs, as well as during the shoot.
If you do have older kids you want to be part of the session, I often find they’ll love to show off their bedrooms and toys, so having the 1-2hr buffer in these sessions comes in very handy for putting them at ease to forget about the camera as well as me, a stranger, coming into the home to hang out! I never force interactions with the siblings or asking the older kids to smile/look at the camera, which usually has the opposite effect and they’ll become less likely to show enthusiasm for the session and camera.
When booking my sessions we’ll go over prep before the day, which includes things such as how best to tell you older children that someone with a camera is coming over and why. Get in touch if you have any questions, would like some more info, or want to book a session. I’d love to hear from you!
